- Planting area should not have been forest for at least 10 years before the project start date AND at project start date (according to the definition of forest of the Designated National Authority (DNA)). To assess this, a spatial assessment is required.

- Planting areas should not be on wetlands.

- A/R requires planting trees. Included in this definition are shrubs and bamboo (see A/R methodology).

- Projects can be regular or retroactive. Retroactive projects are those that implemented activities (planting) before conducting a stakeholder consultation as per Gold Standard requirements. Retroactive projects have particular eligibility criteria.

- You should assess if there is a risk of double-counting (due to a national/international carbon trading scheme) the generation of carbon credits in the host country of your project.
